they were having another one of those heated arguments on the porch when the kid ventured into the street and got run over by a car He didn’t survive And there was no getting out from under this guilt “He tried to run away from our screams.” “Yes. He did.” “And we can only… go after him now.” “Yes. We’re going after him.” She circled her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a kiss while holding the revolver against his nape, thumbs on the trigger It was the sweetest kiss of their entire marriage The bang ended the problems for both of them
Yikes…! Sounds like two poems to me. First ends with he didn’t survive. But you’re the poet and I’ll read what you said.

After my father died, as I was processing his no longer being alive, one of my thoughts was – I don’t think I’d be able to cope if it had been my daughter.

Like the twist. Reading on mobile I literally did not see it coming. Had to check if I had scrolled too far.

Ouch. I felt this: at times as adults we neglect to notice what our fighting does to our kids.

Heartbreakingly sad – not sure which is worst, the child running into the road or the sheer horror and bleakness of their conversation and decision.

Bangs galore when you play Russian Roulette fully loaded. That’s why it’s best to pace yourself, with quarters from the flowerpot for the slot machines. Take it from me.
And if you want to win at craps, you have to choose the Universal dice. Just don’t blow it first, or the pips might go supernova.
btw, they were dealing my cards from a secret deck of Jokers…. Nobody even noticed, because I folded most of the time. A pair of fools trumps all in Royal Hold-em-Up.
